If you don't know what Fly By Jing is you are somewhat of a loser! There I said it! I'm only kidding but if you haven't done so yet you should definitely give it a try. Here's a little background. Fly by Jing was founded by Jing (a mogul, queen of her craft, amongst many things) in 2018 inspired by the flavors and culture of her experiences in her hometown Chengdu, China.
One of my great friends gifted me two vibrant sauces that were packaged with the best packaging I have...every seen! I had the pleasure of tasting Sichuan chili crisp and the Zhong Sauce. I believe they put just as much thought into packaging as they do with the spice selection within the sauces. First usage I slathered that bad boy on a chicken dish I was creating for dinner. At first whiff I was able to get teleported all the way back to the time I visited China and stayed at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel! Though I visited Beijing the smell took me back to my honeymoon when my wife and I shimmed our way through the night Market to try foods that embodied the culture. We were lucky enough to try the salted scorpions on a stick, and the word famous candied strawberries on a stick, both delicious!
One the container they provide a small list of the items the sauce is guaranteed to pair great with. My friend and her husband suggested I try it with vanilla ice cream! My first thought was no way. Hints the chicken dish being the first! If you need more suggestions or recipes to try, check out the Fly By Jing Blog.
Once I had the guts to try the Sichuan chili crisp sauce on my Earth Grown Vegan Vanilla (dairy free) ice cream from Aldi my mind was rocked! Yes I eat vegan ice cream because I prefer dairy free dairy products these days. I am not only looking forward to trying the Zhong Sauce on vanilla ice cream I can't to get my hands on the Mala spice mix. Not only can you buy each sauce separately, you could also get the Triple Threat Package which come with all three Jing's! (Jings=Things) it rhymed. They also have a subscription service that will send you your sauces, so you never run out. I would highly suggest the subscription option because you will received 15% off every order. If you are interested in the subscription click here.
